Delete Your EverRoots Account

You can permanently erase your account and personal data at any time. This page explains how — directly from the app, or by submitting a request below if you no longer have access.

Last updated: April 28, 2026

Deletion is permanent. Once we complete erasure, your personal account, journal entries, check-ins, badges, and authored shared content cannot be restored. Family content you authored will be anonymized to "Former Member" so other relatives still see the stories, recipes, and posts you contributed — without your name attached. Items in Soul Capsules, Forever Letters, Future Messages, and Voice/Video Legacies are hard-deleted.

Option 1 — Delete from the EverRoots app (recommended)

  1. Open EverRoots and sign in.
  2. Go to Me → Privacy Controls (or Your Data & Privacy).
  3. Scroll to Delete account, confirm, re-authenticate, and type DELETE to confirm.
  4. You will be signed out as soon as erasure completes.

From the same screen you can also export a copy of your data (GDPR Article 20) before deleting.

Option 2 — Request deletion without the app

If you can't reach the in-app flow (lost device, account lockout, deceased relative request, etc.), submit the form below or email privacy@everroots.app with the subject "Account deletion request".

Account deletion request form

We will reply within 3 business days to verify your identity and complete erasure within 30 days of verified request, as required by GDPR.

Email us instead

If your email client doesn't open automatically, please send the same details to privacy@everroots.app.

What gets deleted

  • Personal account: profile, email, password, authentication record
  • Personal collections: journal entries, mood check-ins, badges, data-export history
  • Sensitive legacy content you authored: Soul Capsules, Forever Letters, Future Messages, Voice/Video Legacies, Care Requests
  • Uploaded media in your personal storage (excluding pending data-export bundles, which expire on their own schedule)
  • Tree print orders placed by you

What gets anonymized (kept for family continuity)

Content you contributed to a shared family stays with the family so other members aren't left with broken threads, but your name is removed and replaced with "Former Member":

Special case — sole steward of a family

If you are the only steward of a family with other living members, deletion is blocked until you either transfer stewardship to a co-steward or remove the other members. The app will guide you to the Co-Stewards screen with one tap.
